Leukemia (Blood Cancer); 10 Important Signs & Symptoms

Unveiling the Telltale Signs & Symptoms

Leukemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. It originates in the blood-forming cells, leading to an abnormal increase in white blood cells. Leukemia is relatively rare but very serious which makes early identification critical.

The symptoms of leukemia can vary depending on the specific type of leukemia, its progression, and individual factors. It’s important to note that some of these symptoms can also be indicative of other medical conditions.

The most important signs and symptoms you will find in leukemia are as follows:

1. Chronic Fatigue

Persistent fatigue and weakness are common symptoms of leukemia. The abnormal production of leukemia cells can crowd out normal blood cells, leading to reduced oxygen-carrying capacity and energy levels. One of the most common alterations is anemia, a reduction in the functioning of red blood cells with a decrease in oxygen delivery to the tissues. Less oxygen would turn into lower energy levels available in the cells, which explains chronic fatigue.
