How to Prevent Fatty Liver Disease?

Several measures can be taken to avoid getting fatty liver disease, the cornerstones of preventing fatty liver disease are:

  • Having a healthy weight: Obesity is one of the most important risk factors for fatty liver disease, and keeping a healthy weight can help you avoid it. This can be achieved by exercising, at least 30 minutes per day, and eating healthy balanced meals with as little refined sugars, processed meats, and saturated fats as possible.
  • Moderate consumption of alcohol: Although research hasn’t placed a healthy amount of alcohol to avoid fatty liver disease, consuming more than 3 units per day for males and more than 2 for females has been linked to fatty liver disease within 5 years.
