Symptoms Of Gastritis
The symptoms of gastritis vary among individuals, some can be asymptomatic while others can present with mild to severe symptoms (6).
The pathognomonic symptom is a sharp burning sensation of pain usually at the epigastrium area, that is the upper center part, and the left upper part of the abdomen, that is the left hypogastric region. Most patients complain of pain radiating to their back.
Other associated symptoms are bloating, nausea, and vomiting. The vomitus is usually characterized by clear, yellowish, or greenish content (4).
Severe symptoms of gastritis are:
- Difficulty in breathing (dyspnea)
- Vomiting of bloody substances
- Severe abdominal pain
- Chest pain
- Foul-smelling bloating
Symptoms or indications of emergency treatment
- Tachycardia ( fast heartbeat)
- Diaphoresis (excessive sweating)
- Difficulty in breathing
- Vomiting greenish substances in large quantity
- Generalized body weakness
- Fainting episode(s) (4,6)
