Examine Your Skin Regularly

Most patients who develop skin cancer could have been caught earlier if they examined their bodies regularly. Every month or so, make sure to stand in front of a mirror while having a shower and see if there are any lesions you haven’t noticed before. Not all new changes to your skin are bothersome, however, and you should look for things like:
- A mole that changed its shape or color, or that increased in size recently
- A wound that does not heal, however small it is
- A swelling that you haven’t noticed before
- New rash that wouldn’t go away or one that bleeds
- If you see any of the previous, it is advisable that you consult your general practitioner or local healthcare professional.
