Hemophilia B: Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Treatment

Symptoms of Hemophilia B

The severity of Hemophilia B symptoms depends on the level of factor IX activity in the blood. The condition is classified into three categories:

  • Mild Hemophilia B (5-40% of normal factor IX levels): Excessive bleeding occurs only after major injuries, surgeries, or dental procedures.
  • Moderate Hemophilia B (1-5% of normal factor IX levels): Individuals experience prolonged bleeding after minor injuries and occasional spontaneous bleeding.
  • Severe Hemophilia B (<1% of normal factor IX levels): Frequent spontaneous bleeding episodes occur, often into joints and muscles, leading to complications.
