Swelling of the liver and spleen
A liver with a large size is also a prominent feature of hepatitis. But, once again, it is not always evident in hepatitis C. In the early stage of the disease, doctors might not notice a significant change in liver size. But then, as the liver’s condition worsens, it starts changing its appearance and size in imaging studies.
Swelling of the liver is usually accompanied by changes in the spleen. Doctors call this combination of organ size hepatosplenomegaly. In some cases, the spleen’s size is very large and can be felt around the belly button.
