4) Skin recurrences

The reactivation of the disease starts by causing tenderness and a burning sensation where herpes simplex lesions were in the past. After this prodromal period, the patient develops vesicles, fever, and ulcers when these vesicles burst open. The disease typically resolves in up to 10 days.
