Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) Test

Is there only one type of LDH?

Lactate dehydrogenase has five different isoenzymes. Each has slightly different structures and is found to varying concentrations in various tissues.

We can use this variability to our advantage. When the LDH test is processed with an LDH isoenzyme test, the results can point out a more detailed location of the damage.
