15) Bradycardia

This is the clinical name of a reduction in the heartbeat, which should be between 60 and 100 beats per minute in a healthy adult at rest. But patients with hypokalemia experience alterations in heart muscle.
Similar to what happens in the smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract and the skeletal muscle, the heart muscle is also affected by low potassium levels and does not contract as it should.
This alteration can compromise blood flow and oxygen delivery to the rest of the body. It may lead to heart failure, asystoles, and severe cases may end up in sudden death.
