Malaria; Causes, Symptoms, Prevention & Treatment

Conclusion

Conclusion

Malaria is a traveler’s disease in the United States and Europe. It is endemic in tropical areas of Africa, Asia, and America, and there is no vaccine against Plasmodium falciparum or any other Plasmodium species. The incubation period of malaria is usually four weeks, but some patients may have a long asymptomatic period.

One of the essential features of the disease is the cyclic nature or paroxysm of the symptoms. They come and go in periods of 2 or 3 days, and the condition worsens progressively if not treated. Thus, if you suspect malaria and recently traveled to the tropics, contact your doctor as soon as possible and talk about your symptoms.
