Coconut Oil

We mentioned coconut oil as a possibility to blend your garlic and create a salve. This substance can also be used directly, and it is apparently a very good remedy against pinworms. This famous remedy is applied around the anus, which is thought to prevent female pinworms’ egg-laying.
Additionally, coconut oil can be taken orally, similar to what we already described in the case of garlic. Ingesting coconut oil every morning may help with parasitic infections such as pinworms. It also has extra benefits in blood lipids, among others. However, the evidence of coconut oil’s effectiveness against pinworms is anecdotal.
Conclusion
Pinworms are one of the most common parasitic worms in the United States. Their symptoms are quite bothering, and the disease can easily be transmitted to another person. The most commonly implicated patients are children, but their parents can also be infected. In some cases, many classroom members are infected with pinworms, and many of them can be asymptomatic carriers. Thus, getting rid of pinworms is often not a patient’s problem only. In many cases, we should treat a complete classroom and all household members simultaneously. Otherwise, the infection may return and keep causing problems.
Medical treatment against pinworms is successful as long as hygiene recommendations are taken and the household and other affected patients are treated simultaneously. They should receive a second dose of the treatment after two weeks to reduce the risk of recurrence because new pinworms can hatch in this period, and the anthelmintic treatment does not destroy the eggs. Thus, this treatment can last around 15 days in which patients should be encouraged not to scratch, and hygiene should be supervised, especially in children.
Medical treatment to get rid of pinworms includes albendazole, mebendazole, and pyrantel pamoate. In some cases, pinworms can display resistance to one of these agents, so it is important to receive follow-up and monitoring as the treatment concludes. Proper follow-up should also include long-term monitoring because sometimes there are no signs of infection after completing the treatment, but they can still be there weeks after.
If you want to get rid of pinworms, it is imperative to wash your hands frequently, not stick your hands in your anus or mouth, bathing right after waking up and changing bed sheets often, cleaning towels and other personal implements, and not sharing them with other people.
