While no home remedies will be as effective as medical treatments for prostate cancer, certain studies have found that nutrition plays an important role in increasing the survival rate of prostate cancer. In patients with low-grade prostate cancer who are under active surveillance, it will be useful to know a few facts you can implement yourself and may significantly reduce your risk of cancer spread, and complications:

  • Eat more anti-inflammatory foods: Cancer needs inflammation to keep on growing and spreading. Thus, eating anti-inflammatory foods in your day-to-day can be a helpful way to reduce the incidence of cancer, and improve your prognosis if you’re under active surveillance.
  • Try the ketogenic diet: According to studies, a high-fat, low-carb diet improves the survival rate of low-risk prostate cancer. However, be sure to choose healthy sources of high-fat foods and avoid inflammatory foods.
  • Hemp oil: In many cases, hemp oil and CBD are prescribed or recommended for patients with prostate cancer. It is a good way to control pain symptoms, and may also induce apoptosis (programmed cellular death) in prostate cancer cells.

Regardless of your dietary choices, do not neglect your condition, and always make guided decisions along with your doctor. This way you will be certain that they are the best choice available for you and won’t interact with your current treatment approach.
