Conclusion
Neck pain is perhaps one of the oldest symptoms known to man. It has several causes, most of which are minor, but some of which can be very painful to the person experiencing them. Age is an important determinant of the condition where older people tend to complain more of this symptom along with other joint problems including back pain and knee pain.
The vertebral column or “spine” is the central bony structure found in our backs. It consists of different regions that start in the neck “the cervical region” then the thoracic region, followed by the lumbar region. The last two regions are the sacral and the coccyx and they have no movable bones. The spinal canal is located in our vertebral column and it is where the spinal cord runs. The spinal cord is formed of different nerve pathways that transfer signals from the brain to the peripheral nerves and vice versa.
