Tennis Elbow (lateral epicondylitis); Causes, Symptoms & Best Treatment Options

Will I Get Better?

There is a great chance that your tennis elbow will improve on its own or with minimal medical intervention within 4 months, but in a minority of cases with no improvement, surgery remains the only option.

It is important to understand that your doctor will not know to which group you belong until after 6 months of follow-up, and only then will a decision on surgery be made. The main rare complication that can occur is tendon rupture, which results from the weakness of the tendons as mentioned. This is, however, highly unlikely unless you abuse your wrist for a long time after the condition develops.
