Symptoms

- Pain: Pain is the main symptom of tennis elbow. It rarely develops suddenly and usually takes many hours after an episode of excessive use such as after a playing session or a work shift. Your pain will be worse the longer you use your wrist and is relieved by rest.
- Inability to use your wrist: Although most patients have mild to moderate pain, if the pain in severe, you won’t be able to use your wrist for some time.
- Swelling or bruising: Swelling is common in inflammatory conditions, but can also occur in other conditions including tennis elbow. It is usually mild and unrelated to the degree of pain. Bruising is unlikely to happen unless a severe injury occurs.
