Alkaline Phosphatase Test (ALP) | Elevated Alkaline Phosphatase

Is there another non-liver condition that leads to high ALP levels?

Yes. There are many types of ALP in different parts of the body. Most cases of ALP elevation are caused by liver cholestasis, but not all. High levels of this enzyme in the blood may also come from bone tissue, especially in Paget disease.

We should also know that ALP relies of zinc to function properly. Thus, anything that affects zinc levels in the blood may also lower levels of ALP.
