Prognosis

The prognosis of Amebiasis is generally good if treatment is done at an early stage. When the correct treatment is done timely, it is associated with less than 1% mortality. If the infection is left untreated, it is found to have high morbidity and mortality rates all over the world. This is because it can lead to complications like Amoebic liver abscess and intraperitoneal rupture. Moreover, an untreated Amebiasis can also lead to complications in the heart and lungs, which causes conditions like Amoebic Pericarditis and Pulmonary Amebiasis. This is why it is highly important to go to a doctor and get your treatment at the earliest possible time.
