What is AST in blood test? | Aspartate Aminotransferase

Is there anything else to know?

If you’re worried about your AST levels, talk to your doctor, and follow his advice. High levels of this blood marker do not necessarily mean that you have a dangerous liver condition. However, abnormal levels should never be taken for granted and need to be evaluated by a licensed physician.

Remember that even day-to-day activities such as strenuous exercise in athletes can raise AST levels a bit. It may be slightly increased in patients with fatty liver disease and other mild liver conditions.
