Bell’s Palsy Treatment

The treatment for Bell’s palsy pretty much involves the support provided to the nerves to cure the facial damage it has caused. The interesting thing about Bell’s palsy is that it gets cured on its own even if no clinical treatment is given to the patient. The medicines and therapies available for Bell’s palsy can help you recover in a shorter period but they are not necessary.

The most used medication is prednisolone which is a corticosteroid. These steroids help decrease the swelling on your face and also repair the damaged nerve quickly comparatively, making the healing period shorter. If you have had Bell’s palsy because of a viral disease, then you would be treated for that disease with an antiviral medicine which will mitigate the symptoms of Bell’s palsy slowly too.

If you have Herpes Simplex or Varicella Zoster virus, the physician might prescribe you a course of Acyclovir or Valacyclovir.
