Measures That Need to be Taken Before a Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery

Before a patient goes to the medical facility to get their Carpal Tunnel Surgery, they will be asked about all the medications they are currently taking. This does include not only over-the-counter medicines but also vitamins, minerals, and supplements. The medications that are particularly important to report are blood thinners and anti-clotting agents, as they may lead to bleeding after surgery.
Moreover, patients may also be advised to quit smoking before the surgery, as this may delay their healing. Eating and drinking anything is also discouraged at least 6 to 12 hours before surgery.
