Blurry vision in diabetes is caused by many medical reasons. Increased sugar in the blood can cause swelling of the lens of the eye. Distortion in the shape of the lens cause a major hindrance in its ability to focus things clearly leading to blurred vision. Burring can be temporary or permanent. Temporary blurring occurs after high sugar meals and goes away on the normalization of blood glucose levels.

The permanent blurring of vision can be due to a condition called “Diabetic Retinopathy” in which blood vessels within the retina of the eye are damaged.
