Dysentery; Causes, Symptoms, & Prevention

Conclusion

Conclusion

Dysentery is an infection of the intestines that results in bloody and mucoid diarrhea. Although it resolves on its own, medicines can shorten the recovery period and reduce the intensity of the symptoms providing relief to the patient, as well as preventing any further complications that may arise. However, prevention is always better than cure, so it is good to maintain high standards of personal hygiene to prevent getting this disease. Washing hands regularly and eating and drinking clean water and quality food are important. And in case one has been infected by the disease, stay hydrated and seek medical help if the symptoms are severe or do not get better within the first few days.
