What Is Considered a Dangerously Low/High Ferritin Level?

Should I see my doctor if my ferritin level is low or high?

As a general rule, do not perform unnecessary investigations unless ordered by your physician. Our bodies are complex, and you are more likely to find a marginally abnormal finding if you run all lab tests at this moment. Ferritin can be elevated in a multitude of conditions, some of which are temporary and require no medical treatment. You should seek medical care when you have symptoms or if you have been diagnosed with a certain condition and you feel that the same symptoms that you had in the first place have come back. Otherwise, seeking medical care for abnormal tests can put immense stress on you physically, emotionally, and financially.
