Refined Carbohydrates
This group includes a wide variety of foods, made up mostly of refined cereal flour, like wheat, rice, corn, and barley. Goods like pasta, bread, pastries, full rice, crackers, cookies, and commercial cereals enter this description.
The reason to put all of them on the same item is the direct link between refined carbohydrates and blood sugar levels. Pasta, bread, and rice spike glucose right after ingestion and the starch in these products are easily absorbed by the body and quickly transformed into fat. They could be even worse if they have any sort of high-fructose preparation to enhance the taste. Once fructose is running through the bloodstream, it is quickly converted into fat by different metabolic processes. This is the leading cause of obesity, diabetes, and organic adipose tissue in most developed countries.
We consume more refined carbs than we need, and that’s causing many cases of fatty liver disease. But the main problem is that these products are repeatedly consumed in the western hemisphere and are a basic ingredient in almost all cultures.
