Diagnosis of Giardia Infection
Diagnosing giardiasis is simple, and your doctor will ask you a few questions regarding your symptoms and how they started. They may also need to perform a quick physical examination of your abdomen to check for your abdominal pain and examine your child for signs of dehydration if they have giardiasis. Afterward, they may ask for some investigations including:
1) Stool Analysis

Stool analysis is the main investigation ordered in giardiasis. Your stool sample will be analyzed for bacteria and parasites including the cysts and trophozoites of giardia. Other ova of worms may also be seen.
Your doctor may advise you to give more than one stool sample on different days to make sure that you are free of the parasite.
