During Shaving

Shaving is an essential part of modern human hygiene, and both males and females shave on a near-daily basis, which makes the activity prone to mistakes that can damage the skin. Some measures can be done to avoid damaging your skin during shaving:
- Use a sharp razor and shave in the direction of hair growth: This will ensure that your shaving will be with minimal wounds and that there are little scratches for bacteria to live in, reducing inflammation. Shaving without inflammation also decreases the risk of ingrown hair, which is a real nuisance for regular shavers.
- Use shaving cream that contains aloe vera: Aloe vera is a soothing substance to the skin that helps reduce inflammation from the stress of shaving. Some shaving blades now offer a strip of aloe vera over the blades that is applied every time you pass the blades over your skin.
- Shaving is always better than epilating: While epilation gives more time for your body hair to grow than shaving, it increases the risk of ingrown hair, especially if your body hair is thick.
