Hepatomegaly
Similar to other types of viral hepatitis, this virus causes chronic inflammation of the liver, which typically manifests in hepatomegaly. As the disease becomes chronic and the liver is deeply affected by the disease, it shrinks and becomes replaced by fibrosis. That is what we call cirrhosis, and it is one step before liver cancer. Thus, liver size changes throughout the disease and should be compared to other relevant data to understand what is going on.
