Sicca syndrome
It is also known as Sjogren syndrome and causes dryness of the exocrine glands. Patients reduce their tear and saliva secretions and have difficulties swallowing, a dry mouth, dry and red eyes, and other skin and mucosa problems. This syndrome is caused by an alteration of the immune tissue. In its attempt to destroy the virus, the immune system attacks the glands affecting their function in the short term. This is an early symptom, usually limited to the earliest phase of the disease.
