Neurologic symptoms
Another early sign of hepatitis C includes tingling in the skin, usually in the upper and lower extremities. This is due to the involvement of the peripheral nerves in the disease. It is another unspecific symptom that could be attributed to any other circulatory or nervous health problem. It usually appears in the early stage of the disease, and some patients don’t even notice.
In the late stage of the disease, patients develop hepatic decompensation when the liver is severely compromised, which sometimes manifests with severe neurologic symptoms. This is called hepatic encephalopathy and causes various changes in consciousness levels, including confusion, stupor, and coma.
