Imaging studies

In addition to lab investigations, other imaging studies may be needed including:
- Abdominal ultrasound: Abdominal ultrasound is a good option to visualize the liver. It can detect liver cirrhosis and if there is ascites (accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity).
- CT scan of the abdomen: Computerized tomography scan is useful to detect any masses in the abdomen including cancer. Liver cancer is not related directly to hepatotoxicity, but other conditions that cause chronic liver disease can cause cancer such as viral hepatitis.
