Confusion
This is a severe problem in patients with hepatic encephalopathy, and they won’t even remember this after recovering. Their capacity of judgment is compromised, and they start talking nonsense. They do not know where they are and do not respond appropriately to social stimuli. In many cases, patients with severe confusion may also become aggressive and very irritable. In milder cases, the disease manifests as changes in the patient’s personality, mood swings, and irritability.
