Management and Treatment
Treatment of liver spots does not have to do with liver disease, either. They are treated with lotions and other topical drugs. Sometimes a cosmetic procedure is performed, and if you detect the warning signs listed above and you’re diagnosed with a malignant lesion, surgical removal is a likely treatment depending on each case.
In general liver spots can often be treated with one of these options:
Topical Drugs and Creams

This is the first treatment option because it is not invasive and relatively easy to do. They will be over-the-counter creams designed to reduce or treat hyperpigmentation in most cases. In other cases, you might need a prescription. Retinoids such as Atralin, corticosteroids such as Dermovate, and hydroquinone treatments with Melanex are possible options your doctor may consider.
Selecting a topical treatment depends on the diagnosis, and you might change the lesion and make diagnosis difficult if you start trying random creams without asking your doctor. Thus, we strongly recommend looking for medical assistance, even if you’re planning to try an over-the-counter cream.
