10) Anorexia

This is the clinical name of the so-called loss of appetite that we see in many infectious and non-infectious diseases. It is more marked in patients with nausea and vomiting and precipitates weight loss. The body is under stress, and the immune system consumes significant energy trying to fight off the disease.

Anorexia complicates matters by reducing the food intake volume and the available energy and nutrients. Thus, it is not surprising that patients reduce their weight after this period of the disease, especially if malaria is not promptly treated.
