Malaise

It is a general and non-specific symptom arising in most patients with viral diseases, including rubella. Patients usually report low energy levels, muscle soreness, drowsiness, and loss of appetite. Altogether, these symptoms cause a general sense of malaise affecting the patient’s daily activities. These symptoms are more prevalent in adults, and even when most children present with some malaise as a part of the prodromal symptoms, they are not often severe enough to lead parents to the emergency room.
