Fever

This is a prodromal symptom of monkeypox and may continue in later stages of the disease. Fever usually starts along with other initial symptoms such as enlarged lymph nodes, sore throat, and cough. The fever is usually not very high and can be limited to 38ºC or around 100ºF. It happens to almost every patient infected with the monkeypox virus. When fever is present, patients should monitor their temperature twice a day to ensure that it doesn’t reach higher numbers. This is a sign that patients should consider starting self-isolation and reducing their close contact with other people to curb the risk of infection.
