Doctors can diagnose PIFC by the following tests:

  1. Liver function test to assess the liver status
  2. Genetic test -for your parents-to detect either they are carriers for gene mutation or not
  3. Biochemical markers for PIFC1,2,3 as GGT enzyme
  4. Ultrasound and MRI to detect any complications in the liver
  5. Liver biopsy
  6. Bile salt level: reaches 10 to 20 times more than the healthy level
