Sciatica Pain Relief

Sciatic pain can be very frustrating, although it sounds leg a simple leg or hip pain, it can impede your daily routine. People who have moderate to severe cases of Sciatica need consistent treatment to get relief from this pain.
Sciatica cannot be remedied with a specific medication. The primary objective of all prescribed medications is to relieve discomfort. If the sciatic pain worsens, doesn’t improve in the long run, or obstructs any normal movements for a very long time, the only answer remains is surgery.
Sciatica Treatment
The treatment of sciatica is a little different from the other regular bodily pains a person might experience. The treatment can be divided into four categories:
- Home remedies
- Pain Relief Medication
- Local Anesthesia
- Surgery
Pain relief medications include paracetamol as well as Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and naproxen. These drugs block the nerves that carry the pain sensation to your body parts by inhibiting the COX enzymes. Other medications include muscle relaxants and narcotics like benzodiazepines.
The latter class of drug is only used if the pain becomes too unbearable and there is some temporary solution needed immediately before the surgery is finally scheduled. Physicians in some parts of the world have also reported the use of tricyclic antidepressants and anti-seizure medications because they affect nerve conduction in a very similar way and thus help block sciatic pain.
