This symptom is closely associated with fever. It results from muscular activity meant to produce more heat and increase body temperature. These jerking movements in your muscles are caused by signals coming from the hypothalamus. Chills are often combined with sweating when the hypothalamus finally senses high body temperature and tries to cool down the body through evaporation.
