Confusion
Among the elderly, there’s a common link between severe infections and mental health. They usually suffer from more severe infections because their immune system is compromised. The resulting inflammatory process affects not only the surrounding tissues but their whole system as well, including the normal functioning of their brain. As a result, elderly patients with kidney infections may display a change in their mental status, confusion, mood changes, and many other psychiatric traits.
