8. Cramping

In diabetes, pains and cramps usually occur as a result of nerve damage known as diabetic neuropathy. This symptom usually occurs after prolonged high blood sugar levels.
While it can be uncomfortable at any time of the day, pain and cramps will most probably keep you awake in the middle of the night. Cramping is fairly common in people with type 2 diabetes, that is why it’s on this list – because it will sometimes show up as a type 1 diabetes symptom and most times go unnoticed.
