How does one know they have Ascariasis?
Symptoms
Many people get infected by Ascaris but usually have no symptoms. These individuals are called ‘silent carriers’. These silent carriers are the ones who spread the eggs of this parasite from one place to another causing it to reach places where it is not so common. Ones which a large number of larva and worms hiding inside the small intestine are the ones who show the many signs and symptoms of worm infestation.
People with Ascaris lumbricoides infestation usually come with complaints of nausea, vomiting, consistent abdominal pain, blood in stools, and also diarrhea. Ones with a serious infection with a large number of worms harboring the small intestine have serious complaints of weight loss, fatigue, extreme abdominal pain, and the presence of worms in the vomit or the feces.
