2) Cirrhosis

Liver disease often causes splenomegaly, and one example is cirrhosis. Patients with cirrhosis will also develop hepatomegaly, jaundice, and edema in the lower extremities. These patients should be treated promptly to reduce the risk of hepatic encephalopathy.
