Bloody vomiting
Although vomiting itself rarely means something serious, bloody vomiting is almost always a sign of severe disease. It can result from other conditions than liver diseases including stomach ulcers and esophageal conditions. In liver disease, portal hypertension occurs which means that blood pressure within blood vessels of the gastrointestinal tract increases, resulting in esophageal varices which can rupture causing bloody vomiting.
Sometimes, such bloody vomiting can be mild, but if severe, it can cause a drop of blood pressure and be life-threatening. In all cases, medical care is a must.
