1) Pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB)
Other terms used for Pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) are shaving bumps, sycosis barbae, and traumatic folliculitis of the beard, an inflammatory skin ailment caused by ingrown hairs caused by hair removal. It causes irritating papules, pustules, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. It’s most common in the beard area but also noticed in other regions after hair removal. It is more common in men with tight curly hair, particularly those of African and, to a lesser extent, Asian heritage. The cause of PFB is unknown, but it is usually triggered by shaving the terminal hair.
