4) Complete Blood Count

A complete blood count is a routine investigation. It is not strictly needed in giardiasis, but it can be beneficial when fever is present to rule out bacterial infection. In bacterial infection, the level of white blood cells increases.
If giardia infection is highly suspected but still unproven after lab tests, your doctor may advise you to undergo an endoscopy. Endoscopy is when a small tube equipped with a camera is inserted into the rectum to visualize the colon. It helps in taking samples and examining the colon for other diseases that may have the same symptoms as giardia.
