3. Alcohol

 

Alcohol, especially beer, is known to increase the risk of gout and trigger gout attacks. Beer is high in purines, and it also increases uric acid production and decreases uric acid excretion. Wine and spirits have a lower purine content but can still contribute to gout if consumed in large amounts. If you have gout, it is recommended to avoid or limit your alcohol intake.
