Interactions with the hepatitis A vaccine

These drugs are contraindicated and should never be given in association with this vaccine:
- Belimumab, adalimumab, and other immunosuppressants: It has potent immunosuppressive effects and reduces the hepatitis A vaccine’s impact. Patients who take this drug should way a 30-day clearance to receive the hepatitis A vaccine.
- Cortisone, deflazacort, dexamethasone, and other corticosteroids: Like immunosuppressants, corticosteroids reduce the potential of the immune system to create defenses against hepatitis A. They should not be given in combination with the hepatitis A vaccine.
Other drugs can cause interactions with the hepatitis A vaccine, but they are not contraindicated. For example, methotrexate, rituximab, chloroquine, and the dengue vaccine, which should not be coadministered with the hepatitis A vaccine.
