Risk factors
According to the World Health Organization, the risk factors that increase the likelihood of being infected with hepatitis A include:
- Individuals with a poor sanitation
- Individuals and geographic areas with a lack of safe water sources
- Living in the same house with an infected individual
- Having an infected individual as a sexual partner
- Using recreational drugs
- Men who have sex with other men
- Traveling to an area with a high risk of hepatitis A without previous immunization
