Do I Have Crohn’s Disease or IBS?

IBS shouldn’t be confused with inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease or Ulcerative colitis. Crohn’s disease is a much more serious condition than IBS because it involves active inflammation of the colon and has a physiological basis.
The differentiating symptoms of Crohn’s disease include;
- Fever.
- Lower abdominal pain with blood in the stool.
- Ongoing bouts of diarrhea. Unlike IBS, diarrhea in Crohn’s disease usually doesn’t respond to over-the-counter anti-diarrheal medications.
- Fatigue and a feeling of low energy.
