11) Muscle Cramps

We mentioned muscle cramps above, and they are very common as a low potassium symptom. It is actually widespread in athletes who need to replenish their electrolyte levels during competition. It is an early sign of low potassium levels before it reaches a moderate or severe alteration. This happens because part of the role of potassium is controlling muscle contraction. This electrolyte does not only start but also helps stop a contraction.
When potassium levels drop to a certain degree, there are alterations in how muscles contract and relax. This may lead to muscle weakness and prolonged and uncontrolled contractions, causing muscle cramps.
